Fethiye is still traditionally an unspoilt working market town, surrounded
by nature and ancestry. A natural bay with little islands dotted around the
stunning coastline, boasts a colourful harbour promenade with picturesque views
of the surrounding mountainside and cafes galore. Home to " paspatur ",
a wondrous collection of quality shops (Turkey is renowned for its leather,
jewellery and carpets), restaurants and bars, and only 25 minutes ' dolmus '
(minibus) ride away from the famous "blue lagoon" beach of Olu Deniz
HISARONU/OVACIK
Hisaronu village is a tailor-made holiday destination, brimming
with bars and restaurants to suit every taste.... literally! Located on the
mountain pass between Fethiye and Olu Deniz and surrounded by stunning pine-clad
mountains and natural countryside. This was formerly a small, sleepy, farming
village 300 metres above sea level, which gives it an ideal climate, as it
is slightly cooler than Fethiye and Olu Deniz. Ovacik is on the outskirts
of Hisaronu itself and home to most of the accommodations in this area and
generally within walking distance of Hisaronu village centre. It is 15 minutes
drive from Kayakoy, a 'ghost village' filled with history and ruins and perfect
walking countryside.
OLUDENIZ
Olu Deniz has one of the most photographed beaches in Europe and
the most picturesque beach in Turkey, the famous 'Blue lagoon'. This beach
is a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty, refraining any building
and developments and protecting the beaches, clear, turquoise, calm waters
for now and the future. The main belcekiz beach fronts a number of cafes
and bars and curves around the bay of Olu Deniz, making it perfect for water
sports, paragliding and sun worshippers. |
