September Turkey holiday bookings are on the up and up according to the findings of a recent Holiday Mate survey.
The survey revealed that many customers had either postponed their annual getaways due to the Olympics or the school summer holidays.
September seems to have symbolized a significant rise in September bookings for cheap holidays to Turkey as customers turn their thoughts to jetting away before the winter months creep in.
Nearly half (45%) said they did not take their usual summer break in the school holidays this year and nearly a quarter (23%) revealed this would be the first time they had gone away in September.
Travel experts have also noted that holidays to Turkey are beginning to compete with other popular last minute holiday destinations such as Spain and Egypt on price and value.
It seems that being outside the euro zone has also helped to raise Turkey’s game as a holiday hotspot of choice for late summer travelers who realize that the socializing in Turkey is cheaper than funding evenings out in other popular holiday destinations that use the euro.
Last weekend saw the onset of a mini heat wave in the UK, however weather experts have already predicted that the current heat wave will be short lived.
And so it seems that the September surge may well be set to continue as sun worshippers from across the globe clamber to squeeze in some last minute September sunshine.
A Holiday Mate spokesperson said:
“The Olympics created a party atmosphere that lifted the spirits of UK customers.’
“As soon as the last race had been run and the Olympic torch extinguished, our website saw a rise in bookings for holidays and flights to Turkey – this was of course good news for us.’
