‘Lots of people do not realize how much effect the rays from the sun can have on the body and the skin.’
‘Our recommendations are based on a set of very simple steps that will help our customers to stay safe in the sun.’
Parents planning family holidays to Turkey should pay particular attention to advice relating to keeping kids safe from the rays of the sun with protective clothing and sufficient amounts of fluid.
Here are some of the highlights from the Turkey holidays sun care factsheet:
-
The sun's rays are at there strongest between the hours of 12 noon and 3pm so avoid sitting in the sun for long periods during these times. This could be an ideal time to grab some shade or a spot of lunch or even a quick afternoon nap!
-
Adults should make sure that children take sufficient breaks from the rays of the sun. Little ones also need to be kept topped up with sun cream and water to ensure that they are hydrated at all times.
-
Skincare guidelines advise the use of broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day. Broad-spectrum sun block contains UVA and UVB. Take note of instructions on how to apply individual sunscreens correctly and don't forget to reapply after a dip.
-
Wide brimmed hats are a great way to protect the face and neck area. So invest in a trendy hat (with at least a 4-inch brim) to keep sun exposure and sun burn at bay. Don’t forget to invest in a hat with a neck flap and a brim for kiddies too.
-
Sunglasses protect the eyes from 99% to 100% of UVA and UVB rays. They also stop the eyes from squinting when looking at the sun – a great way to keep those fine lines around the eyes in check!
